Ore-Cal Seniors uses Handicap Software that calculates handicaps according to USGA Standards.
We use the last 5 scores played in Ore-Cal and the handicaps are updated after each tournament and calculated for the course that is being played next. Each course we play has a different index and rating. The course index and rating have an effect on what your handicap might be. Also higher or lower than usual scores in the most recent 5 scores will affect changes in the your handicap. If age plus handicap equals 90, members may choose to play forward tees. Handicaps will be calculated on tees played.
We have found that the 5 most recent scores best reflects a person current playing ability and is equitable for all.
Our Tournament/Handicap Chairman posts all scores for players in Ore-Cal events. Once a player has played in 2 events he will have an Ore-Cal Handicap. These scores will then be used to determine a player’s course handicap for all Ore-Cal events based on the course that is being played.
We also will be using the USGA Equitable Stroke Control to calculate the adjusted gross score to establish an handicap.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH PLAYER TO POST THEIR SCORES INTO GHIN AT THEIR HOME COURSE AND SHOULD BE POSTED AS TOURNAMENT SCORES. WE ONLY POST ORE-CAL SCORES INTO OUR OWN SYSTEM.
*most likely score*
A most likely score is the score a player must post for handicap purposes if a hole is started but not completed or if the player is conceded a stroke. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken, plus, in the player's best judgment, the number of strokes the player would take to complete the hole from that position more than half the time. This number may not exceed the player's Equitable Stroke Control limit.
